Management often points to decades of industry experience to justify how the club operates, but the day to day experience, especially in the mornings, tells a very different story. Overall, the facility feels consistently frustrating and poorly maintained.
Pros
• The morning front desk staff are friendly, dependable, and professional. They often end up cleaning up after the closing crew and deserve real recognition for it.
• WOAC is still one of the few gyms in the area with a full range of strength and cardio equipment.
• Sanitizing stations are set up throughout the facility, and there is a pool.
• Members are usually notified in advance about maintenance work and shutdowns.
Cons
• The closing crew regularly fails to clean or reset the facility, leaving morning staff and members to deal with it.
• Showers are often dirty at opening, with visible hair and debris. Management has mentioned difficulty hiring janitorial staff, but this has become a recurring problem. Examples observed: 12/1/2025, 1/16/2026, 2/5/2026, 3/10/2026, 4/15/2026, and 5/10/2026.
• The gym floor is frequently left in disarray overnight, especially on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Used towels and water bottles are left all over. On one occasion, towels with a dried brown substance were left out overnight. Personal trainer clipboards with members’ private information, including weight and BMI, have also been left unattended.
• Equipment is rarely reracked properly. Kettlebells, dumbbells, boxes, and mats are often scattered around, creating safety issues and making it harder to find what you need. Examples observed: 2/9/2026, 2/19/2026, 3/12/2026, 3/13/2026, 4/17/2026, 5/4/2026, and 5/8/2026.
• Disinfecting supplies are inconsistently restocked, especially since January 2026. Wipe stations are often empty at opening, particularly near the bikes and windows on the main floor. Spray bottles sometimes seem so diluted they are barely effective, and paper towels frequently run out.
• Shower towels are thin, small, and rough. It often takes multiple towels just to dry off.
• Body wash and shampoo dispensers are often watered down to the point where they barely work. Examples observed: 12/21/2025, 1/19/2026, 3/14/2026, 4/27/2026, and 5/26/2026.
• About a third of the cardio equipment is partially broken, including some newer machines. Common issues include resistance controls not working, broken TVs, Bluetooth problems, and apps that don’t function.
• Mats, barbells, and dumbbells are often dirty and don’t appear to be cleaned regularly.
• HVAC issues make the upper cardio floor and both locker rooms very humid during the spring and summer, which makes the space uncomfortable.
• The pool reservation system feels uneven and poorly enforced. It mostly comes down to who can book fastest online, while some people seem to bypass the system without any consequence.
• Locker room soap dispensers are unreliable and are often empty or not working.
• The toilet paper is low quality and difficult to use.
• Locker room seating is limited, and the benches are narrow, which forces people to stack belongings in crowded spaces.
WOAC has the equipment and could be a great gym, but ongoing issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and basic operations continue to drag down the experience. What is most frustrating is that many of these problems seem fixable with better oversight and more consistent standards.

Tara is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely invested in helping me reach my goals in a way that feels smart, safe, and sustainable. She listens closely, meets me where I am, and knows exactly how to challenge me without pushing me past what’s right for my body.
One of the biggest game-changers for me has been her assisted stretch sessions. They don’t just feel amazing — they’ve helped both of us better understand what my body needs, which carries directly into my training sessions. It’s made my workouts more effective, and I feel more in tune with my body overall.
Tara is encouraging, attentive, and consistently reminds me to be mindful and to listen to what my body is telling me — while still helping me progress. Tara is both highly skilled and truly cares, as are my water fitness teachers--Dory, Carly, Joanne, and Vielka! All of the staff from trainers to desk and maintenance are wonderful!

I also really enjoy the club itself. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and the staff is friendly. The variety of group classes is a huge plus and keeps workouts fun and engaging.

I've been a member for a number of years. In that time I have taken some of the free classes, done personal exercise and recently decided to try using a personal trainer. The gym connected me with Tara Vasi last June. We met and she explained her philosophy, asked me about my goals and concerns. I decided to give it a try and have been very satisfied with the experience.
The only drawback is that the place is so well run that it's very popular so it's pretty busy at times.

water aerobics, lap swimming, and a variety of other classes. Good equipment also. I enjoy getting fit amongst motivated people of all ages and sizes.

Update 2026. Like the gym a lot. But dang it’s so busy after work and on weekends. Maybe pause the new memeberships?

But I like going there. It does what I needed to do and I'm very happy with going to the club. I have a trainer and he's very good and so I'm achieving all my fitness goals.

This place is so good it should be a secret.
Best "gym' that I have been involved with in my 30+ years of training. 💪
I would Highly recommend the Waverly Oaks for young & old , Familia and singles.
But Shhhh....
☝️😎💯

I started working with Jessica Roy who has been very creative and thorough in helping me find/research foods I could eat as well as helping me better understand the building blocks of healthy eating. She's also been a great therapist and listens to the combination of physical activity and emotional ups and downs with great empathy. I feel more in control of my life based on her guidance and recommend working with her.
