SUPPORT TEAM BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER

APRIL 21

Our friend Carissa Prue (and former Waverley Oaks Instructor & Personal Trainer) is running the 129th Boston Marathon in support of Team BMC! Click here to make a donation and help Carissa reach her fundraising goal!

Carissa’s Story: My reason for choosing to support Team BMC is fueled by love and compassion for my family and others in need and pure gratitude! Like many families who rely on Boston Medical Center for critical care, my family also experienced a time of great need. In 1991, when my older brother Michael was just 12 years old, he required life-saving liver and bone marrow transplants. Years later, in 2005, he faced another challenge and needed a kidney transplant.

Being the closest DNA match in our family, my younger brother Marc, who was just five years old at the time, without hesitation became the bone marrow donor and, at 19, donated a kidney as well. Without the help and support of these medical organizations back then and still continuing on until now, my family wouldn’t be what it is today.

UNITING TO SUPPORT REFUGEES

APRIL 27

Have you been wondering how you can personally step up to help refugees? The BETC Refugee Response Team, in collaboration with the First Church of Belmont, Unitarian Universalist, invites members of the greater Belmont community to join together at a critical fundraiser for Refugee & Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC) on Sunday, April 27th from 4-6pm.

All proceeds will help RIAC continue to provide food, rental assistance, and other services to the people arriving at their door. Speakers will provide updates on the latest news regarding refugee relief and will share volunteer opportunities and other ways people can help.
