Meet Jeri! Jeri Schefts has been a part of the Waverley Oaks team as a Certified Personal Trainer since spring of 2019. Jeri holds a BS degree in Accounting, MS degree in Applied Anatomy and Physiology, and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Born and raised in Connecticut, Jeri grew up playing and watching as many sports as she could. Back then, the fitness industry didn’t exist the way it does today, and she wanted to work in a field where she could help people improve their overall health. Having been in the fitness industry for over 30 years, she started by helping to open several Richard Simmons Anatomy Asylum clubs in the area.
After realizing she wanted to work with the population that came to these facilities rather than work on the business side, she started teaching group exercise classes and then became a Personal Trainer in the mid-90s.
Jeri enjoys working with adults of all ability levels and has a particular fondness of working with those new to exercise or are struggling to make positive lifestyle changes. In her free time, Jeri is often outdoors skiing, biking, gardening, playing softball and just enjoying having more time to play after retiring from her full-time job in the IT industry!
One of my favorite parts of being a Trainer is showing those new to the gym environment and seasoned gym goers that exercise can be fun. I love helping people feel better, physically and mentally, so they can enjoy life to the fullest. At Waverley Oaks, we take pride in our facility and programs, and it shows. We work hard to maintain a clean and safe club with programs and amenities to cater to a variety of interests and needs. I enjoy being a part of a team strives to be the best!
