Smart Swaps for Sweet Cravings

We’ve all been there – suddenly hit with a craving for something sweet. Cravings can pop up for lots of reasons: hunger, stress, boredom, or simply because you saw (or smelled) something delicious. Whatever the trigger, it can be tough to stick to your healthy routine when a sweet tooth strikes.

The good news? You don’t have to deprive yourself. With a little planning, you can keep tasty, lighter options on hand that satisfy your craving without completely derailing your goals.


Premade snacks:

  • Quaker Chocolate Rice Cake (with mini chocolate chips) + ½ tbsp peanut butter
  • Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Square – 1 square

DIY Sweet Treats:

  • Dark chocolate square topped with 1 tsp chunky peanut butter
  • Melt 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips, drop quarter-size dollops on parchment, and sprinkle with 1 tsp chopped nuts/seeds – let set before eating
  • Toss 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips into 1 cup popcorn or a handful of almonds (about 10)
  • Stir 1/4 cup berries + 1 tbsp chocolate chips into 6 oz plain Greek yogurt
  • Mix 2 tsp honey into 3 oz plain Greek yogurt
  • Stir a no-sugar-added hot cocoa packet into ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • Chocolate graham cracker with 1/2 tbsp Nutella
